Perry Boys Past & Present Put on Dominant Performance at Turkey Trot
On Thanksgiving Day, the Perry Boys Alumni Team won the Turkey Trot for the 3rd consecutive year since the team race was introduced. The current boys high school team finished 2nd overall and once again won the high school division as well.
Perry Alumni Runners Ty Griffin ('07) and Dustin Ford ('05) Lead Mount Union College to 25th Place at NCAA Division III National Championship

Ty finished 79th overall with a time of 25:27 and Dustin finished 105th just 10 seconds back in 25:37. It is great to see these two outstanding Perry Alumni runners competing at a high level and reunited as teammates at Mount Union.

Congratulations to Brandon Wollenberg and Josh Tormasi for
qualifying for the 2008 Division 1 Cross Country State Meet. The Team placed
5th out of 16 schools at this years regional meet, just missing that last spot
for the state meet as a team. Also, contributing to the teams 5th place finish
were Justin Eddy, Shane Gillard, Cody Sundley, Kevin McDougal and Jon
Melnichenko.
Josh and Brandon will be racing at 12:35pm on Saturday at Scioto Downs in
Columbus.
Also, Drew Tormasi finished 9th place overall in the 8th Grade Boys Gold Division Race at the Middle School State Championship yesterday with a time of 10:57.2.

Congratulations to the Boy's Cross Country Team for winning the District Championship on Saturday. Leading the way for the team, and impressively all finishing as Individual Qualifiers, were Josh Tormasi, Brandon Wollenberg, Justin Eddy, and Shane Gillard. Others contributing to the Team Title and running outstanding races were Cody Sundley, Kevin McDougal, Jon Melnichenko, Chase Daniels, Nick DiGiulio and Corey Williams. The Team will be running again this Saturday at GlenOak in the Regional Championship Meet.

Congratulations to the Boy's Cross Country
Team for winning the Federal League Cross Country Title at home this past
Saturday. This marks the third Federal League Title in 5 years for the
boy's cross country team. Winning the individual league title and being
named the runner of the year was Josh Tormasi. Finishing a close 2nd was
Brandon Wollenberg and finishing 5th was Justin Eddy. Also scoring and
running personal best times were Shane Gillard, Jon Melnichenko, Cody
Sundley, Kevin McDougal, and Corey Williams.

Congratulations to Josh Tormasi for breaking the Perry Boy's Cross Country 5k School Record running a very impressive 15:53 for 3.1 miles, where he led the team to a strong 3rd place finish out of 20 teams at the Meet of Legends. Also scoring and running personel best times on the day were Brandon Wollenberg, Justin Eddy, Jon Melnichenko, Cody Sundley, Shane Gillard, Kevin McDougal, Chase Daniels, Corey Williams, Aaron Dunn, Grant Gillilan, Seth Kurzen, Nathan Clapper, Alec Blend, and Charlie Jeffreys. The team will be hosting the 2008 Federal League Championships here at Perry this Saturday at 11am.

This past weekend, the Perry Boys team took 6th at the
Strongsville Invitational in a very competitive field. Josh Tormasi lead
the team up front with an 8th place finish and personal best 16:01 along with
Brandon Wollenberg (16:16 - 11th) and Justin Eddy (16:32- 20th) who ran personal
bests as well. Also running personal bests on the day were: Shane Gillard,
Jeremy Machan, Mike McBurney, David Kamerer, Brad Linerode, Grant Gillilan, Jake
Miller, Matt Mizer, Seth Kurzen, Nathan Clapper, and Charlie Jeffreys.
The team will be in action again this Saturday at GlenOak High School for the 2008 Stark County Championships.

In Boy’s Cross Country action this weekend in a muddy mess at Boardman, the team placed an impressive 3rd out of 34 teams. The team was lead by senior, Josh Tormasi (6th) followed by Brandon Wollenberg (19th), Justin Eddy (28th), Jon Melnichenko (51st), Shane Gillard (59th) and Kevin McDougal (70th). The JV team was lead by Nick DiGiulio (9th). The team looks to improve again this weekend at the Strongsville Invitational. At this meet the team will some of the state’s best teams, including Twinsburg, St. Ignatius, Mentor, Solon, Renoyldsburg, St. Xavier, Hilliard Darby, and Strongsville.

In Boy's Cross Country action this past Saturday, Josh Tormasi
won his first ever elite level cross country invitational race, leading the team
to 2nd place out of 18 teams. Others contributing to the teams strong 2nd place
finish were Justin Eddy, Brandon Wollenberg, Jon Melnichenko, Shane Gillard,
Kevin McDougal and Cody Sundley. Others running personal best races were Corey
Williams, Mike McBurney, Chase Daniels, Nathan Clapper, David Kamerer, Aaron
Dunn, Tyler Weisburn, Jake Miller, Matt Mizer, Seth Kurzen, Alec Blend, and
Charlie Jeffreys.
The team will be in action again this Saturday at the Boardman Invitational.

This past weekend at the Avon Lake Early Bird Invitational the varsity team placed a strong 3rd behind two of the state’s best teams (Medina & St. Ignatius) in a 19 team field. The Perry Cross Country Team is set to host Federal League Cross Country Championship Meet for the first time in 12 years, on Saturday October 11th, 2008.
The Race Schedule is as follows:

The boys team finished 7th at GlenOak minus the top 3 runners (Josh Tormasi, Brandon Wollenberg, and Justin Eddy) who were off for the weekend. A lot of new guys got their first crack at a varsity race and Kevin McDougal came through with a 21 second personal best to finish as the number 2 runner on the team. In the open race personal bests were run by Mike McBurney, David Kamerer, Aaron Dunn, Matt Mizer, Tyler Weisburn, Tyler Yoder, Seth Kurzen, Jake Miller, Alec Blend, and Charlie Jeffreys.
The team will be at full strength in action tomorrow at Avon Lake. The varsity will run at 9:00 AM followed by the JV at 10:00 and then the open at 12:00.

The Perry Boys Cross Country team had their team time trial at Malone in the Moose is Loose Relay this past Saturday. Senior Josh Tormasi and Junior Justin Eddy teamed up with Perry Alumni runners Ty Griffin ('07) and JD Horton ('07) to win the 10 mile relay open division and win the race overall with each of them running 2 miles. Ty actually lead off and anchored since they did not have a 5th team member. The team of seniors Shane Gillard and Jon Melnichenko along with juniors Nick DiGiulio, Cody Sundley, and Kevin McDougal finished 4th overall and also finished 2nd in the high school division. Every runner looked to be much improved from this race last year.
The team's season starts this Saturday at the GlenOak Invitational this Saturday.

Last week at the 11th Annual Perry Rotary Turkey Trot, a team of Panther cross country runners one the HS boys team division race and an alumni team ran an outstanding average of 16:10 lead by J.D. Horton ('07) and David Adams ('02) placing 3rd and 4th overall respectively.

Also, good luck to Perry Alumni Runner and Mount Union College junior runner, Dustin Ford. Dustin qualified to the Division III NCAA National Championship and will be competing at St. Olaf College in Minnesota on Saturday.

In Boy's Cross Country Action this past weekend at the Regional
Championship, the boy's cross country team narrowly missed the last qualifying
spot for the state meet and placed 5th. The team was led by Josh Tormasi, who
qualified for his second state cross country meet as an individual. Also
running outstanding races on the day and helping the team make that impressive
run were Matt Welch, Brandon Wollenberg, Justin Eddy, Cody Sundley, Shane
Gillard, and Jon Melnichenko. Josh will run this coming Saturday at Scioto
Downs in Columbus. Good Luck Josh!

Last night at the Walsh Warrior JV Classic, there were several great performances turned in with some of the nicest weather to race in there could be. Leading the way in the Freshman/Sophomore race were Corey Williams and Nick Digiulio both setting nice PRs and placing 12th and 15th overall. By placing in the top 15 in their grade, they also received a nice shoulder bag as an award. Grant Gillian also had a nice PR race in that as well. In the Junior/Senior race, Ryan Oster lead the way with an 8th place finish followed closely by Nick Marsh in 13th, J.D. Fye in 14th, and Jeremy Machan in 20th. Jeremy ran 29 seconds faster than his previous best and all 4 received awards. Evan Boylan also ran a personal best on the day. It was a very nice meet overall and pretty much everyone that ran was their best race or close to their best race of the season.

In Boy's Cross Country action this past Saturday, the boy's team
ran their best race of the year and finished as District Runner-up, advancing
them to this Saturday's Regional Meet at Boardman High School. On this day,
Perry upset the number 4 ranked team in the state, Louisville. Leading the team
and also qualifying as individuals for the regional meet were: Josh Tormasi in
7th, Brandon Wollenberg in 9th, Matt Welch in 10th, and Justin Eddy in 18th.
Others contributing to the teams 2nd place finish were Cody Sundley, Jon
Melnichenko, and Shane Gillard.
The JV team will be in action Monday night at Walsh Jesuit for one last chance to race this season.

In Boy's Cross Country Action this past Saturday at Boardman
High School for the Federal League Championship Meet, the team pushed Hoover,
the state's 3rd ranked team, all the way to the finish and placed a close 2nd.
Leading the team were Josh Tormasi(1st Team All Federal League), Brandon Wollenberg(1st
Team All Federal League), Matt Welch(2nd Team All Federal League), Justin Eddy(2nd
Team All Federal League),
and Cody Sundley(Honorable Mention All Federal League). Also running outstanding races on the day running personal
bests and near personal bests were Shane Gillard, Jon Melnichenko, Nick Marsh,
Corey Williams, Nick DiGiulio, Ryan Sardone, Brad Linerode, Mike McBurney, Grant
Gillian, Evan Boylan, Nathan Myers, Ryan Briggs, and Brennan Norris. The team
will be in action again this Saturday at Malone College for the District Meet.

out of 20 teams. Leading the team through the heat on the day were Josh Tormasi
and Matt Welch. Other's contributing to the varsity team were Brandon
Wollenberg, Justin Eddy, Cody Sundley and Jon Melnichenko. The team will be in
action again this Saturday at Boardman for the Federal League Championships.
Also, on Friday, 4 PXC Alumni raced the All-Ohio Intercollegiate Cross Country
Meet at Ohio Weslyan University. Dustin Ford and Ty Griffin ran in the
varsity race helping Mount Union place 2nd in Division 3. David Adams and
Alex Stern both ran unattached in the open race representing Perry High School

Cross Country Team placed 4th out of 20 teams at the Stark County Championships.
Scoring for the Varsity Team were Brandon Wollenberg, Josh Tormasi, Justin Eddy,
Matt Welch, and Shane Gillard. Cody Sundley lead the JV team to a 2nd place
finish with a 2nd place finish of his own. Running Personal Bests in the
JV race included: J.D. Fye, Nick Marsh, Jeremy Machan, Nick DiGiulio, Ryan
Sardone, Brad Linerode, Mike McBurney, Grant Gillian, Nathan Myers, Tyler Yoder,
Evan Boylan, Brennan Norris, Ryan Briggs, Nathan Clapper, and Dorian Gray. The

team to a 2nd place finish, beating 5 state ranked teams at the Strongsville
Invitational. Brandon Wollenberg, Matt Welch, Justin Eddy, and Shane Gillard
rounded out the scoring for the varsity team. Others running outstanding races
on the day and setting personal best times were Jon Melnichenko, JD Fye, Corey
Williams, Jeremy Machan, Sardone, Brad Linerode, Mike McBurney, Grant Gillian,
Tyler Yoder, Nathan Myers, and Brennan Norris. The team will be in action again

The boy's cross country team placed 5th this past Saturday at the Midwest Meet of Champions. Leading the team was junior, Brandon Wollenberg. Others contributing to the 5th place finish were Josh Tormasi, Matt Welch, Justin Eddy, Ryan Oster, Shane Gillard, and Cody Sundley. The team will be in action again this Saturday at the Boardman Invitational. Personal bests were recorded by Brandon Wollenberg, Justin Eddy, Ryan Oster, Shane Gillard, and Cody Sundley during this race.
Also the JV team competed in the varsity race at the Wooster Invitational and finished 4th overall. Jon Melnichenko lead the way with a new personal best and 11th place overall finish. Rounding out the scoring for the JV team was J.D. Fye, Kevin McDougal, Nick Marsh, and Nick DiGiulio.

In Boy's Cross Country action this past weekend, the boy's cross country team placed 2nd out of 18 teams, losing only to St. Ignatius, at the Avon Lake Invitational. Leading the team and placing in the top 10 were Josh Tormasi, Brandon Wollenberg, and Justin Eddy. The rest of the contributing varsity team were Matt Welch, Ryan Oster, Shane Gillard, and Cody Sundley.

In Boy's Cross Country action this past Saturday at the GlenOak Invitational, the Boy's Team placed 3rd out of 19 teams. Leading the team was Brandon Wollenberg finishing 6th overall. Also, scoring for the team was Matt Welch, Justin Eddy, Ryan Oster, and Cody Sundley. Also, winning the open race was Shane Gillard. The team will be in action again this Saturday at the Avon Lake Invitational.
Here is a quick update of last year's seniors as well. Ty Griffin and J.D. Horton will be continuing their running careers at Mount Union College and the University of Kentucky respectively. Andrew Klecan is attending Kent State and will pole vault there. Other Perry Cross Country alumni and their college choices include: Jeff Bednar (Ohio State), Evan Graham (Toledo), Keith Stinespring (Harding, AK), and Tim Wright (Kent State Stark).
