Attention:  Parents of 2008-09 Sixth Grade Students

 

 

Welcome to Pfeiffer Middle School.  Our orientation for students and parents will be held in the gym as scheduled: Tuesday, August 12 from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. for those whose last name begins with A through L and from 7:30 – 8:30 p.m. for those whose last name begins with

M through Z.   This is a very important and informative meeting so we encourage your attendance.

 

The first day for students is Wednesday, August 20.  Homeroom lists and bus routes will be posted on the front doors on Friday, August 15, after 1:30 p.m. as well as a general student supply list.

 

Anticipated purchases or costs for you will be:

$5.00   Student Handbook

17.00   TI34II Explorer Plus calculator

$22.00 (can be paid by one check made payable to Pfeiffer Middle School)

 

This particular calculator has the capabilities needed to complement our Math curriculum in grades 6, 7, and 8.  It will be used for the next three years.  This is also a calculator that is approved for use on a portion of the Math Achievement Test at grade 6. 

 

We have made arrangements with a local vendor to get the calculators at a reduced cost.  When you pay this fall (September) the math teacher will issue your child a calculator.  We realize the cost of the calculator is significant and our desire was to give you early notice.  The calculators will also be available for purchase at orientation night in August.

  • blue, black, and red erasable pens
  • 5  #2 pencils
  • packet of 3 by 5 index cards
  • 3 – 1 subject spiral notebooks
  • loose leaf notebook paper
  • 4 - two pocket folders with fasteners
  • 1 dry erase marker
  • 1  box of Kleenex
  • 1  highlighter

 

This list is a general list for all three communities and represents the majority of items needed.  There may be a few additional items per community that will be requested once school begins.

  • colored markers
  • 1 – roll of ¾” masking tape
  • scissors – sharp pointed
  • 8.5” x 11” sketch book (spiral bound) – good for 2 yrs (6th and 7th)
