Dr. John Richard, Superintendent
(Bio)

The Perry Local Schools provide an excellent education for students. The end goal of all that we do is to prepare our students for success beyond high school, regardless of the career or educational direction they may choose. By addressing individual needs, setting high educational expectations, and providing numerous opportunities in a caring and safe environment, the Perry school system is an environment in which pride, excellence, and tradition is evident as you enter our doors.

The district received its seventh  “excellent” rating for the 2008-2009 school year, an accomplishment that is a result of outstanding student effort, a committed teaching faculty, and an involved and supportive community. A culture of high expectations exists in which our curriculum standards are aligned with those at the state and national levels, we differentiate our instruction to personalize students’ experiences, and have developed goals and accountability measures through strategic planning.

Several partnerships exist with local business and community organizations, including the Perry Business Advisory Council, an ongoing financial committee, and numerous individual partnerships in which students’ experiences are supported and enhanced. We also enjoy a very positive relationship with our senior citizens, hosting several luncheons each year.

The district finances are stable, due to the support of our community in renewing an operating levy three times since being placed on the ballot in 1996. As a result, the district has not asked for new operating money since that time. A commitment of responsible financial management, while effectively educating our students, has been maintained with the support of our community.

Welcome to Perry Local Schools, and please email or call if I can answer any questions that aren’t addressed on our website.

Sincerely,
John V. Richard, Superintendent of Schools
