Types of Bullying Behavior
Bullying among students is commonly defined as intentional, repeated hurtful acts, words or other behavior.
A lot of young people have a good idea of what bullying is because they see it everyday! Bullying happens when someone hurts or scares another person on purpose and the person being bullied (the victim) has a hard time defending him or herself. Usually bullying happens over and over and can include any of the following:
1. Punching, shoving or other acts that hurt people physically
2. Spreading bad rumors about people
3. Keeping certain people “out” of a group for no reason
4. Teasing people in a mean and hurtful way
5. Getting certain people to “gang up” on others
Bullying also can happen on-line or electronically. Cyberbullying is when students bully each other using the Internet, cell phones or other technology. This can include:
1. Sending mean text, e-mail, or instant messages
2. Posting nasty pictures or messages about others in blogs or on web sites
3. using someone else’s user name to spread rumors or lies about someone
