Procedures for
RETAKING A SCIENCE QUIZ/TEST
Students who need to retake a quiz/test will first
participate in in-class re-teaching.
During the re-teaching time, I will be working with the students who struggled
with the material on the quiz/test helping them to better understand the
content.
Once we have completed the re-teaching lesson, I
will set a retest
date. This date will be within a
few days of the re-teaching session, and often it will be the very next
day. On that day, the students will
take the retake during class. The grade
on the second assessment is the grade that will go in the grade book, replacing
the original grade.
While I am re-teaching and retesting students, the
rest of the class will be working on a variety of enrichment activities with
the goal of taking their understanding of the content to the next level.
Students will be assigned to re-teaching or
enrichment based on their grade on the first quiz/test as follows:
Students earning an A or B will be participating in
the enrichment activity.
They will not be retaking the quiz/test as they have
already mastered the content.
Students earning a C
will have the opportunity to elect to participate in re-
teaching/retesting or the enrichment activity. However, I may choose for them to do the
retesting if I feel it is necessary.
